Tuesday, December 5th - Dream Center
Today we spent the day at Extreme Reponse's Dream Center. It is an after school program for colored children who are having difficulty with school. In South Africa the test scores determine what high school the child can attend so it is critical for students to get selected to attend a safe school.
The colored population struggles in South African society and tends to be overlooked. The dream centers provide a safe place to learn and develop self esteem. There are 40+ children ages 6 to 16 who are served be the center.
We spent time loving on them by playing games and doing crafts with them. We also took time to pass out gift bags to them. Later in the afternoon their parents came for a Christmas program that they put on and then we served dinner to the family. It was so overwhelming to experience the gratitude they had for the gifts they received.
